OXYTREAT 'S'

OXYTREAT-S is an oxygen scavenger based on sodium sulphite blended with a specially selected catalyst which will effectively speed up the reaction of the sulphite with dissolved oxygen even at low temperatures.

OXYTREAT-S is the ideal oxygen scavenger for all water tube boilers operating below 60 atmospheres(850 psi).

PURPOSE

Even with most modern deareation equipment, trace amounts of dissolved oxygen are found in the feed water. This dissolved oxygen will react with the boiler metal and the tubes to cause corrosion and subsequent failures.

OXYTREAT-S was formulated to remove these minute traces of dissolved oxygen. The fast reaction rate of our special binded catalyst makes OXYTREAT-S particularly useful in systems where the boiler feed water temperatures are low or in cold water system.

It is excellent in use in standby boilers for the prevention of standby corrosion.

FEED REQUIREMENTS

Feed solutions should be prepared with a minimum of stirring. This solution can be fed alone or in conjuction with other treatment chemicals not affected bob a reducing agent. Approx. fifty liters of Oxytreat -S will be required to chemically react with one part of dissolved oxygen. , feed solutions should be made up fresh daily.

METHOD OF FEEDING

Oxytreat -S should be fed continuously for best results to the storage section of the deareator or to the make-up tank. This will ensure a residual in the feed water system as well as boiler at all times, even when make-up requirements are higher than normal. Diaphragm or piston type reciprocating positive displacement pump as well as by-pass feeders may be used. Afloating lid will help to prevent reaction with atmospheric oxygen. Feed systems chemical feed pumps for insoluble matter in the tank, outlet should be above bottom of tank and preferably equipped with fine screen strainer.

CONTROL

OXYTREAT-S is controlled by the sulphite test .A free residual of 30 to 60 ppm is normally maintained in the boiler water.A standard iodimetric titration is used for checking. These test units are available from your rochem service engineer.

..............20 - 30............................................................ 150................................ None
..............30 - 50........................................................... None.............................. None

USE OF TABLE

1. Determine sulphite as ppm SO3 in boiler water by testing.
2. Find sulphite range in the table that contains the measured free sulphite residual ( ppm SO3)
3. Read the ml of Oxytreat-s needed per 1000 ltrs ( or per metric ton )under the appropriate pressure column.
